I created Jump-Shot Photography in April of 2009.  I had finished second year at the University of Guelph Humber in Media Studies/Creative Photography, and the summer job market was bleak. I love horses, my mother and sister both ride and horse show, and I love to take pictures.  It seemed like a great match! My mother became my business partner, and she looks after the administration, marketing and logistics of running our business. Did I mention she is also my financial backer?

I started this business because I was unable to find a summer job, and I wanted the opportunity to experiment with different types of photography.  I found that I had a knack for capturing the special bond between a horse and rider. My first opportunity came when I did a shoot at my sister’s barn for a school project.  The shoot went well, and the photos received great reviews from the other riders at the barn. It was through that shoot that I was referred to a barn that was looking for a photographer for their summer shows.  The barn hosted a series of schooling shows for children and adults that were held throughout the summer.

Jump-Shot had a busy summer and fall!  I took over 3,000 images of horses, ponies, adults and kids doing what they love, and had an amazing time doing it.  Some of the more memorable images can be found throughout the website.  I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
My favourite animals are dogs and horses.  My family has included many dogs, horses and ponies over the years. Over the course of my life I have had three dogs. The one that I knew the longest, our Wheaten Terrier Casey, passed away Thanksgiving of 2009. We still have a Wheaten Terrier/Poodle cross (my mom calls him a “Woodle”!) named Scamp. We currently have two hunters: a chestnut named Finnegan and a bay named Focus, both of whom are featured in various parts of this site.

I am not just a photographer. My areas of expertise also include Web Design, Digital Design, and photo restoration.  I am very skilled at all levels of Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. I love a challenge.
